Swartruggens Wastewater Plant
The Swartruggens Wastewater Plant is situated in just outside town of Swartruggens in the North West Province.. The plant is owned by the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality and was designed by Moedi Consulting Engineers with Headstream Wastewater Treatment and Bluewater Bio providing the HYBACS® process design.
- Type: Municipal Sewage Water
- Plant Capacity: 2,500m3 per day
- Installed in May 2012
- Operator: Magalies Water
- Installed electricity = 55kw/h = estimated 34% saving from conventional AS
The Swartruggens plant has been operating well for almost a year now and the operator is thrilled with the simple operation and maintenance of the plant and the excellent effluent quality. The installed power required to operate the plant is 55kw/h and we estimate that this is 34% less than what would be required for an equivalent AS plant. Thus this HYBACS® plant will deliver significant energy and cost savings to the municipality over the life of the plant.
